About the Year of Lifelong Learning
The Year of Lifelong Learning Initiative
Working in Partnership
The 2003: Year of Lifelong Learning is brought to you by the Lifelong Learning Division of Birmingham City Council, the Learning and Skills Council, Birmingham Lifelong Learning Partnership, schools, colleges, universities, businesses and as many learning providers as possible working in partnership.
Purpose of YoLL
Raising aspirations and celebrating learning
The whole purpose behind the Year of Lifelong Learning is:

To raise aspirations for learning by highlighting the different ways in which learning can take place and how it has made a difference to peoples' lives.  Everyone can benefit from learning regardless of age or background, whether it is a course or some fun activity with drama or music - or just attending a seminar.  The Year of Lifelong Learning hopes to draw attention to avenues of learning that you may not have realised exist, and making them accessible.

To celebrate learning within the city.  There are immense learning opportunities available in Birmingham for all, no matter what your learning style, subject or age.  The Year of Lifelong Learning will highlight creative, innovative ideas for learning, and underline best practices within the city.  This is the opportunity to congratulate learners and learning providers for their efforts and their contribution to Birmingham.
