The Workshops
An area of support many teachers have requested for the Year of the Environment is an introductory course on sustainable development education.  Since 1998's Holland Report, this has become an increasingly important concept for schools, and it is now explicitly part of the curriculum.
What does the term mean and what are the implications?
Where can we find useful teaching ideas and resources?
What work might we be already doing which relates to sustainable development?
How might we plan around this concept?
Throughout Autumn 2000 Tide~ is offering day workshops on sustainable development education.  These days have been designed in particular for teachers who are relatively new to the concepts, key documents, and practice of sustainable development education.

The workshops will be facilitated by the Development Education Centre, with the support of teachers with experience in this field.

Workshops will include:

discussion about the meaning and implications of sustainable development.
a sharing of teaching ideas and practice.
space to consider resourcing opportunities.
time to engage in planning for work in your own school.
