CPD for Support Staff
Everyone who works in a school has a part to play in raising standards and giving children a better start in life.

If you work in a support role in school, the TDA Support Staff site is the best starting point for generic information on support staff career development.

Also Teachernet has a range of resources and information on career development for support staff.

The Support Staff Career Development Framework has been created to help school leaders and support staff identify appropriate training and development. By showing progression opportunities within and across different roles it will help staff consider potential career pathways.

Skills4schools is an online resource, created by Unison, to help school staff access learning opportunities at work. By providing an online guide to training, development and career pathways, it aims to help staff develop in their current roles, make the move to new ones and take advantage of the new career opportunities created by the School Workforce Agreement.

In Birmingham the STEP training team offers a comprehensive training and development service to schools for support staff.  This includes generic personal skills programmes and courses to meet the requirements of Government initiatives such as the development of classroom based support staff.
