  1. How do I obtain an Application Form?

You can contact this office, or complete and download an application form from www.dfes.gov.uk/studentsupport/formsandguides/index.shtml

  2. What do I put on the form about my university/course if I am going through clearing?

Put your first choice on the form. We are unable to process your request without this information. If you change your mind, you can inform us of your new details, once your place has been confirmed, and we will reassess your entitlement.

  3. What do I do if I change my course, either before or after I start?

With your financial support notification, you will have received a booklet which explains your entitlement. Attached to this booklet is a Change of Course Form. Complete this form in full, including getting your University/College to complete their parts, and return it to this office as quickly as possible. We will then reassess your entitlement.

  4. How do I apply to the Student Loan Company (SLC) for my loan?

Once your entitlement has been assessed you will have received 3 copies of your notification. On the back of these is an application form for the SLC. Complete the details on one copy and send it to the SLC in the envelope provided. (Please note, of the remaining 2 copies, one will be required by your Higher Education Institution, and one is for you to retain).

  5. I have a disability which means I require extra assistance, how do I apply for additional support?

Please contact this office for further details & an application pack.

  6. I am planning to attend a part-time course, can I get a loan?

Some part-time courses do qualify for a loan, although at a different rate from the full-time loan. Application Forms for Part-Time students are available at the Educational Institution you will be attending in September.
