What happened?

A series of drama tableaux by Sister Tree launched discussions about the questions “What is bullying?” and “What can be done to stop bullying?” and presentations from young people about their successful anti-bullying work helped delegates to reflect on “What works and what doesn’t work” in dealing with bullying.

There were presentations from:

  • Warren Farm Primary School - Peer Mediation
  • Moseley School - running an Anti-bullying Campaign
  • George Dixon International School – creating a safe environment & Bully Text
  • Rights of Children – Bully Buster Project for Looked After Children
  • Children’s Fund & Lift Community Trust– Graffiti art project
  • College High School – a new whole school approach.

The afternoon began with a song performed and composed by a student from Arthur Terry School and discussion focussed on identifying key priorities for anti-bullying action in Birmingham in the future.

Dreadlockalien, Birmingham’s Poet Laureate and a group of young people summarised the ideas of the day in a poetry performance and finally everyone joined their ideas in a paper chain and made the pledge:
