Specialist teaching and support
The Specialist Support Service (SSS) is a front-line
service which operates across the whole City of Birmingham
and is part of Inclusion Support.
The SSS exists to support the successful inclusion of
pupils with special educational needs into local
communities, nurseries, mainstream schools and colleges
and give them equal access to learning.
We aim to ensure that they achieve the highest possible
educational standards and also gain the social benefits of
being taught in a local mainstream school.
The SSS has two main support teams of specialist
teachers, support assistants and technicians
The teams are: -
Team for children with visual impairment
(birth to post
16)
- Team for children with hearing impairment
(birth to post
16)
The counselling service is available for families of
children with either a hearing or visual impairment or
both. |
