Strategic Financial Forecast

The provision of strategic financial planning is essential for all schools in meeting the medium term aims and objectives identified in their school improvement plans.  A vital aid to this planning is the production of a financial forecast so that improvement plans can be closely linked to medium term financial forecasts.

Schools Financial Services has a long history in the production of medium term forecasts, and these continue to be produced by SFS for schools subscribing to the Financial Bursary Service. All schools now have the opportunity of purchasing a CD ROM so that financial forecasting can be produced directly in schools.

The forecast is unique in that it uses the Birmingham Fair Funding Formula and is personalised and part pre-populated for your individual school. Ongoing development of this forecast within SFS has produced a product which is personalised to individual schools' funding, requires minimal data entry, is responsive to fluctuations in pupil numbers and above all is user friendly.

The purchasing of the Strategic Financial Forecast enables schools to:

  • Assess whether there is effective and efficient use of resources.

  • Prioritise resources on the basis of need.
  • Achieve medium term aims and targets.
  • Be responsive to fluctuations in pupil numbers.
  • Support the attainment of the Financial Management Standard.
  • Comply with OFSTED and Audit requirements.
