School census and other data collections
School census
Nursery, Primary and Special schools
All maintained Nurseries, Primaries and Special Schools
will complete Termly School Census three times a year
(January, May, October).
Secondary schools
All maintained Secondary Schools will complete School
Census three times a year (January, May, October).
The DCSF introduced the collection of individual pupil
data for Early Years and Alternative Tuition providers on
Census in January 2008. Pupil Level data from Pupil
Referral Units will be collected in January 2010.

Racist incidents statistical return
Statistics on the number of racist incidents recorded against staff and pupils are collected from schools each term as part of the Race Relations Amendment Act requirements. LINK (To attached Word Doc. 2).

From Autumn 2006, it is intended to replace the paper collection with an incident recording system on the BGfL.
Pupil turnover (Mobility) statistical return
Data on pupil turnover is collected each year in the Autumn Term.
Pupil turnover rates are included in the funding formula for
schools:
Pupil absences statistical return
For secondary schools this is now part of the secondary school pupil census.
For primary schools, pupil absence returns are collected each term and annually.
For special schools, pupil absences are collected annually.
