Pupil Watch promotes partnership working

Tackling crime and anti-social behaviour

Pupil Watch were invited to make a presentation at a Seminar entitled ‘Partnership working in tackling Crime and Anti-Social Behaviour’ held at the Trinity Suite at Villa Park.

  • Pupil Watch invited Pc Nigel Smith (Young Persons Officer at Thornhill Road Police Station) to give a police perspective of how the Education Welfare Service and West Midlands Police work in partnership.

Celebrating success

Pupil Watch attended the second day of a three-day conference in Birmingham entitled ‘Celebrating Success - Improving Young People’s Lives’.

  • Birmingham hosted this event on behalf of the European Youth Observatory and provided practitioners form all over Europe to meet together to share ideas and initiatives when working with young people.

CBI Conference

In November 2003 the CBI conference was held in Birmingham.

  • Pupil Watch were invited by the Retail Crime Operation to a meeting that was attended by the Right Honourable Prime Minister Tony Blair and Hazel Blears, Home Office Minister for Crime Reduction.

  • The purpose of the visit was to inform the Prime Minister of the joint approaches being made in Birmingham to tackle anti-social behaviour, youth nuisance, truancy, robbery and theft.

  • Christine Brolan, the Pupil Watch representative spoke about Pupil Watch and the working partnership with West Midlands Police, Travel West Midlands and the Retail Crime Operation.
