The Criteria for Special provision (CRISP) is a process for matching descriptions of a pupil’s needs with descriptions of special educational provision and other arrangements.
CRISP is intended to promote common standards for all children, and to ensure equity and fairness.
A CRISP assessment describes your child’s needs in a personal profile, which can be used to compare those needs with the range of special needs for which the LEA makes provision.
CRISP provides a clear framework for assessing and recording pupil’s special needs, and can help you to understand the provision that has been made by the school and other agencies.
Parents and teachers can use CRISP to share information, and to ensure that teaching strategies and plans are appropriate to the learning difficulties of children.
