Funding and registering NQTs

Schools employing NQTs undergoing induction will receive a grant of £1000 per term devolved by the LEA. The grant will be devolved termly, to arrive in schools at the half-term break.

This grant should be allocated in ways directly related to the NQTs Induction programme, for example contributing to the costs of a 90% timetable, course costs, and the costs of induction tutors.

Schools access these funds by registering their NQTs with Schools Personnel Services. This is especially important for NQTs employed by an agency, or schools buying personnel services from elsewhere.

The LEA uses this to keep a database of NQTs, which is then used to:

  • devolve the induction grant
  • track completed assessment forms
  • identify NQTs at risk
  • report NQTs who have completed their induction year to the GTC.
