Accessing the fund

An allocation of £16.9million is available to Birmingham schools to fund PE and Sport projects. Following NOF approval to the LEA submission at Stage 1, schools are now actively developing Stage 2 bids for submission.

A chart is available showing how policy and decision making is made: Structure - Individual Project Management.

Overall strategy is managed by a Steering Group made up from representatives from Head Teachers together with representatives from Education, Leisure & Culture, Health etc.

A chart showing this operational structure is also available: Structure - Programme Management Overview.

A small Management Group has also been established to provide the overall strategic direction and management for the project including detailed assessment of projects where there are significant changes.

A full list of all schools included in the Stage 1 submission is provided in the document Projects: First Tranche.  Progress is now being made on the first tranche made up of the first 39 schemes who have attended a briefing session by Education Asset Management, BASS and NOF with support from Sport England. Drop-in sessions have also subsequently been organised for schools.
