The Authority reviewed and amended its guidance to schools on Changing School Session Times in January 2004 in the light of the DfES guidance to schools on the "Power To Innovate" (October 2002).

Both guidance documents however, reinforced the requirement for schools to consult all parties concerned about any proposed changes and to give 3 months notice of changes to start and finish times of the school day - which can only be done at the start of the school year - and 6 weeks notice of any other changes, which can only be done at the start of a school term.

Any school considering making changes to session times must consult their School Support Manager.
