DfES Guidance
DfES Guidance says that Looked After Children
should have a Personal Education Plan (PEP) that
should be monitored and updated, along with the
Care Plan.
Social Workers have the responsibility for
taking the lead in the initiation of PEPs but, in
many cases, the co-ordination and detail will
depend on Designated Teachers. Within the
Birmingham Education Service we have agreed that
the target date, for PEPs to be started for all
Looked After Children in Birmingham schools, is 31
December 2001.
Where a pupil also has an Individual Education
Plan or Individual Behaviour Plan, the details of
these need not be repeated in the PEP. It is
sufficient to refer to them in the text and attach
a copy. |
