Tim's Appeal

Honoured as I am to be the recipient of so many kind wishes and thoughts, rather than receive personal gifts my preference is to mark my retirement by positively contributing to one of the many worthy initiatives under development in the Education Service.

And this is where you come in...

It would be a great honour and reflection of the work the Education Service has achieved over the last ten years, for you to sign up to the Payroll Give Scheme for the Anytime, Anywhere Learning Initiative of the Birmingham e-Learning Foundation. I would then have the satisfaction of knowing that your contribution will benefit Young Learners across the City.

Payroll Give Scheme

It’s the most effective way to support the Birmingham e-Learning Foundation’s Anytime, Anywhere Learning Initiative.

There are many deserving causes - we all have our favourites - however, Professor Tim Brighouse, Birmingham’s Chief Education Officer has nominated a registered charity, namely the Birmingham e-Learning Foundation, of which he is a Trustee.

It’s so easy to sign up...

Anyone on PAYE or payroll system can join - even pensioners. You can download an application form from the Documents section of this site for completion and return it to your payroll department.

You can give as little as 25p per week and each £1.00 you give will cost you only 78p! The remaining 22p that would have gone to the Taxman goes instead to the Birmingham e-Learning Foundation charity.

The Government will also pay a 10% supplement for three years on all donations from 6th April 2000 to 5th April 2003.

The donation scheme is operated by Charities Trust - a registered non-profit making charity; and the second largest Payroll Giving Charity in the UK - handling over 700 employers, 100,000 donors and 2,500 charities.

To help towards the cost of processing and distributing donations, an administration charge is made of 25p per donation.

Alternatively, you may wish to make a single one-off donation - Gift Aid, to the Birmingham e-Learning Foundation by completing the Gift Aid Declaration, also available from the Documents section of this site and returning it to Charities Trust, 14th Floor, Sir John Moores Building, 100 Old Hall Street, Liverpool, L70 1AB.
