What the School Set Out To Achieve:

  • Year Group(s) Involved:  Set A: Year 7 (12 pupils)  Set B: Year 11 (30 pupils)

  • Curriculum Area:  Set A: Progress Group  Set B: GCSE Science

  • Perceived Benefits:

    • Set A: Improved motivation through innovative and dynamic use of portable devices. Increased continuity between home and school learning. Improve home school links by incorporating areas of the new Swanshurst School website. All of which should help special needs pupils to achieve level 4.

    • Set B: Swanshurst is currently taking part in a research program with e-college using Think.com. These portable devices would support this research and give a device for each pupil taking part with a specific research aim of improving science GCSE coursework scores.

  • Action Research Potential: 

    • Set A: Compare improvement of pupils with second progress group who will continue to use more traditional methods.

    • Set B: Already outlined in original e-college project.
