What the School Set Out To Achieve:
-
Year Group(s)
Involved: 7, 8
-
Curriculum
Area: English,
Maths, and Humanities
-
Perceived
Benefits:
-
My centre primarily deals with pupils who exhibit
behavioural problems in mainstream and who are on individual
re-integration programmes back into their lessons. Many of them
have learning difficulties although not severe. What they do
have is an excellent knowledge of ICT and how to use it. This
has been as result of the intensive ICT access they receive
during their two-week (25 lessons per week) programme they have
in the centre initially, as well as the on-going lessons they
receive when out of their mainstream lessons. All these lessons
have an element of ICT attached.
-
The tablets would be used briefly within the centre and then
the pupils would use them within their mainstream lessons.
-
At present we register 23 pupils within the centre and I
would envisage all of them having access at some point during
the week.
-
Alongside this group we have a disabled pupil in school who
has wheelchair access and as a further result of his disability
he has to write with his toes. Clearly access to a ‘PC tablet
would have enormous implications for his learning within an
‘inclusive school’ setting.
