This service offers experience and expertise in the interpretation and application of national and local conditions of service and salaries and wages for teaching and support staff.

The service covers: 

• issuing appointment letters 
  
  
• Statements of Particulars and Terms of Employment documents to teaching and support staff in schools 
  
  
• Administration of wages and salaries 

The team is also responsible for ensuring that checks are made into health, suitability and qualifications of new employees, under DfEE regulations.  This team will give advice and support when placing advertisements, making interview arrangements and other matters in relation to staff appointments.

Advice is also available regarding:

• management of attendance
• individual health problems
• maternity leave and general staff welfare
• salary assessments
• promotions
• transfers
• sick pay
• maternity pay
• other modifications of salaries or wages
• maintaining appropriate record systems including personal files

Education Services Personnel Team

The Education Services Personnel team offers a comprehensive personnel service to the Department's managers and staff, including recruitment, appointments, interpretation and application of national and local conditions of service, variations to contracts and advice on City Council employment policies.
