PSHE and Citizenship Professional Development Programme

Welcome to a very exciting Continuing Professional Development programme from the Health Education Unit.  The programme reflects a balance of the needs of schools with local and national priorities.  All our courses use ‘active learning’ methods which emphasis the importance of skills development and most of our trainers are nationally recognized experts in their field.  Through regular contact and involvement with schools and young people, they have retained an awareness and sensitivity to the realities facing individuals and organizations working with young people.

The Health Education Unit can offer the following services:

  • Subject Courses: subject specific, eg PSHE, Citizenship, sex and relationship education.

  • Education courses: non subject-specific, eg Circle time, raising self esteem.

  • School-based Support: consultancy and tailored school-based professional development programmes.

  • Applications: applying for courses, conferences, consultancies and school based support.

  • Downloads: obtain an application form

School Based Professional Development

The format for each School Based Professional Development Programme is developed in negotiation with the school to ensure that its specific needs are met.  Tailor made training!  Moreover, the amount of class-based support can be varied to suit need and budget.

Please contact the Health Education Unit to discuss your school’s (and your own) requirements.
