What do governors do?
- Plan the school's future direction.
- Make decisions on the school's budget and staffing.
- Make sure the National Curriculum is taught,
- Decide how the school can encourage pupils' spiritual, moral and cultural development.
- Make sure that the school provides for all its pupils, including those with special educational needs.
Governors are people like you.
You don’t need special qualifications but you do need to read a fair amount of paper, attend meetings (at least three full meetings per year although there could be more and be expected to serve on one or more committees e.g. finance, staffing etc.) and work as part of a
team.
Governors generally serve for a four year term.
If you are interested then you now have the opportunity to put forward your name for nomination to become a school governor.
The work is voluntary but offers the opportunity to make a real and direct contribution not only to the education system but also to the community.
If you are interested in becoming a School Governor, please contact the
Governor Recruitment Officer for more information or
visit to the Documents page
to download an Application Form or apply direct using the
