Education Welfare Service Anti-Bullying Statement
All children, young people and
adults have the right to learn and work in an environment where
they feel safe and that is free from harassment and bullying.
Bullying
is mentioned as one of the main contributing factors in cases of
poor attendance or non-attendance by pupils and their families.
It is estimated that 5% of pupils take time off school to avoid
being bullied.
All
schools will have received their copy of the Birmingham Education
Welfare Service Guidance on Challenging Bullying and Racial Harassment:
‘Together We Can Stop Bullying’. This provides detailed
guidance on Policy and practice and includes resources and example
material, to support schools in responding swiftly to bullying
incidents.
