School
Improvement, Citizenship... Birmingham’s
Year of Europe will promote opportunities to develop and
celebrate the achievements of children and young people,
raise standards within schools and include the
widest possible number of participants in all its
activities. It will support, encourage and promote
awareness of European issues to deliver relevant aspects
of the National Curriculum; disseminate and develop good
practice on Europe through educational projects and
activities; promote the continuing professional
development of teachers, classroom assistants and
other school-based staff.
Working
Groups The projects
and events throughout the Year will be identified and
developed by 7 working groups, working to the Advisory
Group with the support of strand teams for ICT,
Communications, International Development and
Diversity. Full details of these working groups
and their planned activities are given in our Getting Involved
pages.
