Sister City Landmark Projects
This project aims to contrast and compare key elements of life in Birmingham, past and present with the same data from Sister Cities.

Areas of contrast could include:

Industrial heritage
Transport links
Significant individuals
Sport and leisure
Physical landmarks
Growth and development of the city
Climate and Weather
Cultural life of the city

Schools would identify an area of interest to them, which would enhance their curriculum and provide opportunities for Out of Hours Learning.

The format used for this project has a great deal of flexibility, and the decision can be made by the individuals concerned, but may include mapping,  paper based projects, web pages etc.

Completed Birmingham projects could be swapped via electronic mail with schools in the Sister Cities.

Participating schools will be involved in a exhibition of their work.

City Centre Visitor Trail
The aim of this project is to produce a visitor’s trial around key sites of Birmingham. The trail would be aimed at European young visitors and students, and would have a humanities theme, i.e:

Industrial heritage
Architectural styles
Cultural landmarks
Municipal buildings
Street art
Transport

Individual schools can determine their preferred option and can liaise with a variety of Birmingham City Council departments for support.

The trial could take the form of annotated maps, photography, use of ICT including digital camera trails and web pages with ‘hotspots’.

Completed trails will be available to view via this web site and one trail will be produced into leaflet form and translated into different languages for use by the City.
