Schools - and their features

| Programme Objectives
|

| Beacon schools are schools
which have been identified as amongst the best
performing in the country and represent examples of
successful practice to be shared with others. Beacon schools include primary,
secondary, special and nursery schools. |

| While this programme is key to the EiC
package, immediate decisions do not have to be taken. The DfEE will issue
further guidance on a continuing basis.
|
|
| Currently the objectives of this
programme are:

 | To bring fresh ideas and practice
from inside and outside the area to broaden horizons
and increase awareness
|
|
|
| To expand the current programme of
Beacon schools and expand the number within inner
city areas. |
