Graham Olway, West Sussex, has been elected by the
Executive Committee as the Chairman of EBDOG. He
will be assisted by Chris Gilbert (Birmingham) as
Vice Chairman, and Clare Medland (South

Shirley
It was with some sadness that conference said
farewell to Shirley Turner who was retiring both
as Chairman of the Executive Committee and from
her post at Hampshire. The major contribution made
by Shirley to developing EBDOG into the
organisation it is now is acknowledged by
conference, the Executive Committee and DfES.

Sport England Yorkshire is launching a new website
on 19th June 2006 to support local authorities
participating in Building Schools for the Future.
The site has been funded by Sport England
Yorkshire, Arts Council Yorkshire and Yorkshire
Culture and it addresses design, planning and
community use issues of surrounding cultural
facilities in schools such as sports, arts and
