Menu Development
Menu development is essential for balanced nutrition

Primary Schools

Standard menus are adapted to meet differing customer need in individual schools. This is normally achieved through consultation with head teachers and pupils.

The standard level of menu choice in Primary Schools is 4 main courses accompanied by a range of vegetables and potatoes.

Puddings usually comprise a choice from cooked puddings, yoghurts/mousse or fruit.

Secondary schools (Pay as you go)

All secondary schools operate a cash cafeteria service that allows pupils to purchase food items that are individually priced.  In addition, a ‘Special of the Day’ is offered.  This is a main course with vegetables and a dessert which can be purchased for the current price of a free meal ticket.  Also available are ‘meal deals’, which provide a more popular set meal for the same price.

A sample Primary School menu is available on the Direct Services Documents page.
