Cook Serve
Cook Serve - a new development in schools catering services

A substantial number of schools in Birmingham currently do not have their own meal production facilities.  They rely on a meal being cooked in another kitchen and transported to the site in thermal boxes.  The aim of Cook Serve is to provide those schools that do not have their own kitchen facilities with the necessary equipment to cook and serve their own food.

Service benefits of Cook Serve

  • By using a system based on regeneration ovens, we are able to convert the ‘wash up’ facility available on many sites, into a production unit in the space that would normally be too small for a conventional kitchen.

  • The quality of the meal is much improved, as food is cooked freshly on site, much nearer to the time it is to be eaten.

  • The Cook Serve supervisor is more able to accommodate the needs of customers, than if the meals were provided from a remote site.

  • We are better able to provide equality of provision, as a meal of similar standard to that produced in a traditional production kitchen, can be provided from this type of kitchen.

  • An on-site production kitchen allows for more flexibility should the school wish to provide other services eg: breakfast, morning break and after school service plus catering for school events, etc.
