PERSONAL, SOCIAL, EMOTIONAL AND BEHAVIOURAL EDUCATION
Provision  
Curriculum Specific targets in the IEP outline strategies to address behavioural / emotional difficulties, enabling full access to the National Curriculum. Whole school PSHE / Citizenship programmes which allow for specific targets to be addressed within the class lesson.
Staffing Staff able to use audit and plan their teaching environment for optimal learning and behaviour. Staff able to identify specific targets within whole school PSHE / Citizenship to address behavioural and / or emotional difficulties to ensure access to the National Curriculum.
Resources School strategies on responding to specific difficulties with named staff and systems of how to access them. Support materials to address a range of PSHE / Citizenship skills across contexts and social relationships. Guidelines for risk assessment.
Environment
and Facilities
Behavioural / learning environments checked by teachers regularly to identify aspects for change to promote positive behaviour and learning. Areas available within the school for the private negotiation of behavioural targets.
Assessment  
Follows some routines in the learning environment. Works some of the time without producing low level distractions which interfere with concentration of self and others. Sometimes careless with own / others’ learning materials. Is aware of need to moderate angry responses when frustrated. May need material rewards to back up social or symbolic rewards. Signs of beginning to respond to self-monitoring and planning strategies.
