CONCENTRATION SKILLS
Provision  
Curriculum In class differentiation and use of strategies within the IEP to assist the development of concentration skills, including timetabling the teaching of priority curriculum skills at optimal times in the day and for limited sessions.
Staffing Staff able to plan and manage the differentiated curriculum, including adjusting the timing of teaching input for priority curriculum skills. Support available from Behaviour Co-ordinator and from external advisory services.
Resources Guidelines on the implementation of highly focused intervention programmes incorporating the assessment and use of materials that are attention-getting.
Environment
and Facilities
Environmental audit to identify need and promote ‘good practice’. Access to teaching areas, for specific tasks, where more appropriate level of environmental stimulation is available.
Assessment  
Maintains attention for short periods of time on the required activity when facilitated by adult verbal and visual prompts.
