Professional support
Consider whether you want to work towards Higher Education accreditation such as an MA.
This could be via a structured, largely taught course or a more research based approach - and new possibilities are emerging in which much of your school-based work could be linked towards university accreditation for a higher degree.
Have a look at the information available from University of Central England and Exeter University as both are partners with Birmingham LEA in providing academic support and accreditation for Birmingham teachers.
Look at the range of local development opportunities which are available via Birmingham LEA and its accredited partner organisations. The Birmingham Grid for Learning provides information on courses/programmes available in Birmingham
www.bgfl.org/staffroom.
This will give you updated information on professional support, BASS courses, Learning and Culture IT courses and increasingly will also signal courses/programmes available from the LEAs “preferred
suppliers”.
Also, there is a BASS handbook in each school detailing courses available during the academic year – ask your school's CPD co-ordinator for access.
