The Pupil Connect team was established in November 2001 to fulfil seven
essential aspects of the Local Authority’s Education Other Than at School (EOTAS) Policy.
- To effectively identify, track and trace all school aged children who are lost
from education or found not to be placed on a school roll.
- To track these children into mainstream school or place in an appropriate educational placement, where possible, within
20 school days of first notification.
- To ensure that all lost pupils are traced and connected to appropriate support networks.
- To establish and maintain effective links and protocols with other key stakeholders and local authorities concerned with
the protection and support of lost children.
- To identify and fund appropriate provision otherwise than in mainstream schools and to link with these providers on behalf
of individual pupils and their parents or carers.
- To provide a coordination and information sharing network for these alternative provisions.
- To evaluate the quality of such provision, in light of OFSTED guidance, and to list all approved providers within an alternative provision directory.
