Four identified theme groups
- Disabled children.
- Children whose race or culture puts them at risk of social exclusion.
- Children with an unsettled home
base, especially newly arrived children, children in hostels, travellers or those
disconnected from education.
- Children at risk of mental ill
health.
All children whose needs place them in one of the four identified theme groups, regardless of where they live in the City, will be ‘screened’.
If they meet the criteria of the theme group(s), they will be offered services, which may be new (Children’s Fund commissioned) or existing services.
The theme group relating to race or culture has sub-groups comprising the African Caribbean community, the Pakistani-Bangladeshi community and a third strand comprising communities that are less visible.
The theme group relating to children with an unsettled home base has sub-groups comprising Traveller children, children living in hostels, children who are newly arrived and children who are disconnected from education.
The other two theme groups relate to children at risk of mental ill health and children with disabilities.
