Behaviour Support Service
Welcome to BSS

Behaviour Support has a dual role:

  • A statutory obligation to teach pupils excluded from school.
  • A preventative role to ensure that a wide range of support strategies are available to all schools for pupils with emotional and behavioural difficulties to prevent social exclusion.

The Behaviour Board exists to give greater cohesion, coherence and transparency to planning for the management of behaviour in Birmingham schools.

Pupils referred to Behaviour Support (BS) have a range of  behaviour problems resulting in disruption and aggression or causing more withdrawn behaviour or refusal to attend school.

We work with schools to address these problems.  Where necessary, we can provide continued access to education through a place in a BS centre. Wherever possible pupils are reintegrated to full time education, with whatever support may be required.

  • Referral Forms are available as downloads from our Referrals page.
