Separate funding for Special Education Needs normally only occurs where a prescribed alteration to the schools approval arrangements occurs as this generates a statutory process under Section 339 of the Education Act 1996 or Section 31 of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998.

All other funding is made available through the standard categories such as Access, Basic Need and so on.
