Local Management of Schools

Local Management of Schools covers:

  • refinements and developments to the Authority's Scheme of Local Management.

  • assessing the impact of new legislation on the Authority's LMS Scheme.

  • developing the Authority's formulae to ensure they continue to reflect Education Department policy.

  • assessing the impact of Local Management in schools to ensure effectiveness and efficiency in the allocation of resources.

  • ensuring that schools' views are reflected in Scheme development.

  • managing LMS contingencies and making allocations to schools where appropriate.

When identifying works as a priority, it is necessary to identify whose responsibility the work is (i.e. governor LMS, governor Fair Funding, LEA Fair Funding).  In the case of Voluntary Aided schools this funding definition is more complex - reference should be made to the Voluntary Aided Schools page.
