Strategic impact of AMP
For many years, the Education Service in Birmingham has embraced the philosophy of partnership with schools, DfES, education agencies and others. AMP will continue
this.
With the introduction of Fair Funding and delegation of R&M to schools there is a need for improved data to assist in determining the relative amounts delegated to schools.
An objective assessment as to how school governing bodies are managing their premises will also be possible under AMP.
With the introduction of AMP, DfES will appraise the AMP itself through consideration of the quality of data, the arrangements for determining priorities, performance and benchmarking.
Capital funding approvals will then be given against the approved AMP allowing investment strategies covering perhaps three years to be planned and implemented.
This is a significant improvement upon the previous method of funding through annual bidding rounds.
