AMP Overview
Aims

To set out the information needed and criteria used to make spending decisions on school premises that will:

  • Raise standards of educational attainment
  • Be consistent with Local Agenda 21 strategies
  • Reflect future ICT needs
  • Increase community use of facilities
  • Maximise value for money
  • Ensure efficient and effective management of new and existing capital assets.

Objectives

  • Provide an agreed basis for local decisions on spending priorities and to link with other LEA Plans (e.g. Education Development Plan, School Organisation Plan, Early Years Development Plan).
  • Help individual schools develop their plans by making the decision making process on funding priorities transparent
  • Help develop partnership projects such as Public Private Partnership
  • Provide assurance to stakeholders that capital projects are soundly based and represent good value for money. This will need to be fully complimentary with the Best Value initiative.

Scope

All maintained school sites are included – Community, Foundation and Voluntary schools including nurseries, Centres and unattached playing fields.

Responsibilities

The LEA will have overall responsibility for preparation of the AMP achievable through consultation and partnership with Head Teachers, Governing Bodies and Diocesan Bodies.

Schools will contribute to the development of AMP; act as the responsible custodian of the premises and plan, budget and manage projects for which they are responsible.
