Activities of the Aimhigher Partnership

Aimhigher has set itself seven major targets. The first two relate to the 13-16 phase of education, the remaining five to the 16-19 phase.

13 - 16 years phase

  • Target 1A
To increase the percentage of students staying on post 16 in full-time education.
  • Target 1B
To raise the percentage of students achieving 5 A Star to C grades at GCSE, or equivalent.

16 - 19 years phase

  • Target 2
To increase the percentage of students progressing to higher education.

  • Target 3
To increase the average points score for students at 18/19.

  • Target 4
To support student participation in foundation degree courses.

  • Target 5
To enable and motivate students with potential to access higher level and challenging courses than they may otherwise achieve.

  • Target 6
To combine with and complement the EiC KS4 14-19 Gifted and Talented programme.

All of these targets have a special significance for those groups within the City who, by reason of culture, background, economic depravation or other factors have not traditionally been involved in higher education.

Schools and colleges each produce an action plan to ensure that the partnership achieves these targets.  Evaluations, pro-formas and advice are available on the Documents page.

The work of Aimhigher therefore has two aspects:
