About Brighter Futures Brighter Futures is the name that describes the strategy in Birmingham for improving the lives of all the city's children and young people. Our vision is for Birmingham to be an inspiring place where all children and young people enjoy living, learning, developing and achieving together whilst feeling secure in a city that is child and family friendly. We have identified six priority outcomes that have emerged from national and local research. These six outcomes mean different things for children at successive stages of their development. Our strategy will improve children’s: - physical health;
- behaviour;
- emotional health;
- literacy and numeracy;
- social literacy (the ability to get along with people); and
- job skills.
